Thank you

First, some words of thanks: It is overwhelming to receive support from everyone, not least friends and family members. Some activities have already been organised on behalf of Oyooni and we have received some wonderful donations.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who organises and attends an event, and to those that donate to Oyooni. Without your support we cannot continue to do the valuable work being undertaken in Palestine.

Nothing to us at Oyooni is more satisfying than when old ladies show their gratitude or say a prayer thanking Ali for the work he's doing at Oyooni.

On this page we would like to pass on those thanks to the people who make it possible. This is the page of 'How we did it'.

We count on Donations, be it in monetary value or in kind, i.e. volunteering.

Our thanks to all individuals and organisations who donated cash to make it possible for us to purchase needed ophthalmic equipment.

And to people who creatively designed and implemented events giving us their time and skills.

Donating, Volunteering, and Fund Raising

A big thank you to:

Lamees for designing our cheeky looking logo, as she worked on this during her studies programme.

Abed and the IT team in continual education at Birzeit University for developing the database software to maintain patients records including digital imaging of the patient's eyes and their follow up visits.

Fiona and Ardentinny (the wee village on loch Long, Scotland). Your warmth and dedication in organising a fundraiser that summer for Oyooni are unsurpassed. Please view the details on Ardentinny's website.

Linda & George, for organising an intimate dinner to share our dream of setting up Oyooni with friends and supporters in the warmth of their home in Rochdale.

PSC Manchester for donating £400 to help establish Oyooni.

Our anonymous donors for their generosity and commitment.

Lesley, Afram, and Sahar for donating all money raised from a car boot sale in International City, Dubai.

Edward for his commitment of a monthly amount to help.

Frank, our first donor, who was moved by the story published in the UAE's 7 Days publication. Thanks also to Sean who followed up on Oyooni's progress and Ali's later trip to Gaza. The articles can be read here:

Doctor's mercy Mission to Gaza

Doc's Gory Sights.

Geneva-based team at HP's Personal Systems Group - Europe, Middle East and Africa, for donating an HP laptop for Oyooni. The team was following Dr ALi's news during his visit to Gaza and felt they could contribute with such a valuable gesture to support us, as the use of a laptop is essential to the mobility of our clinic. Not only this saves some dosh to spend on the purchase of other medical equipment, it also demonstrates how close we all are beyond the borders we live within.

The Peace Cycle and all the cyclists on the 2009 ride, who raised £5,200 to donate to Oyooni and for meeting Ali in Palestine to learn more about our work on the ground.

Abdulla for donating the money (over AED30,000) to purchase the indirect Ophthalmoscope.

Palestinian Heritage Centre in Amman for donating $7,000 towards purchasing the Laser Machine.

Melissa, Miriam, and Ronnie for donating £500 from the fundraising gig they organised in Edinburgh.

Falasteen Ya Oyooni Team, who organised an amazing and successful fundraising evening  at Media Rotana, Dubai; namely, Dana, Alaa, Sherin, Bilal, Rewa, Hassan, Lesley, Maha, and Mona. You were amazing.

Tamam AL Akhal and AL Shammout Family for donating three valuable paintings for the auction on the night. We were honoured by Tamam's presence with us as the guest of honour.

Mohammad Hamami for enchanting us with his solo violin performance.

Ola and Yasmoun for donating a valuable shawl for the ruffle at the evening.

Zyara travellers who accompany Oyooni to Palestine and attend clinics delivering screening and meeting patients. Visit Zyara website to learn more about what it does.

The numerous ways, as demonstrated by the people thanked above, of helping in setting up Oyooni, whether in-kind, donations or creative ways of fundraising, are simply inspiring and touching.

We're ever so grateful.
